Unfortunately the Narin Güran murder still has not been clarified; it continues to be debated and discussed, and the court rulings are being criticised.

From the very first days the murder was reflected in the media, I tried to draw attention to the journalistic errors made in news reports and commentary. Sadly, the journalistic errors in the reporting and commentary on this case persist. For example, Nevzat Bahtiyar — retried and given a harsher sentence — is still being described as a “confessor” by some outlets such as Show TV and Nefes. Yet even the judiciary changed his classification of offence; this time it convicted Nevzat Bahtiyar of “aiding aggravated intentional homicide”.

Seeing that the errors continue, I decided to gather in a single file the links to my columns, social-media posts and the TV programmes I have appeared on regarding the Narin Güran murder. I hope my criticism will contribute to correcting the errors in the coverage of the Narin Güran case and to avoiding similar errors in comparable cases in the future.

I had published my first column, titled “The shame of harvesting ratings from pain”, on 18 September 2024. With the long piece titled “What was written, what was said about the Narin Güran family?”, in which I listed the full media flow on the case as of 14 August 2025, and the piece titled “12 media errors in the Narin murder that influenced the judiciary”, in which I concretised with examples the fundamental errors of the media, I closed my writing on this subject.
